Day of the Dead Arises as Opportunity to Bring Language and Foods Studies Together

Mrs. Sue Nadeau (left) demonstrates to Spanish language students the proper technique for breaking an egg as they prepare to bake bread in honor of their Day of the Dead Celebration at Vernon Township High School. The Day of the Dead is celebrated November 1 and 2 in Latin American countries to honor their departed loved ones, including breads with a bones atop them in the shape of a cross. Mrs. Nadeau, a foods teacher, made this visit to Ms. Jena Toriello’s class. The students who are bravely participating are Christopher Ross (l) and Justin Downs.
